It’s turning a little phrase in a statement to business daily Les Echos that Paul Amsellem has released the information. The new boss of Nokia France has announced a Windows tablet 8 June 2012 no further details. Impossible to know what the schedule referred and if this is an actual availability or rather the announcement of the product. The next version of Microsoft‘s operating system is expected in the second half of 2012.

It is nevertheless an important announcement that is part of the new political image of the brand. After being rubbed with innovative concepts in the world of mobility that have not been successful, as Nokia 3G booklet , the brand focuses on the market that is highly visible on the tablet.

With a shelf on the rails, Nokia actually benefit not only the image and the marketing power of Microsoftto launch Windows 8 , but it will also demonstrate its expertise in this new market and probably be at arm’s length applications to properly equip its tablet.

Using a computer for everyday activities has been essential these days. Early on, it is only relevant for businesses where it stores confidential data of the company and its customers. Today, even grade school students have their own laptops if they want to do their homework, meet friends through social networking sites, and more. Everyone’s lives and work are being stored in computer and laptops; hence, there is a big risk of losing them through viruses, and all other possible means. This is the essence of an online storage to keep these valuable data intact.

Through the available online storage, you will be taught on how data is being stored in computers. Another thing more comforting is that their service is risk free because they have a reliable backup system. Since that is the case, you may be convinced that they can give you that peace of mind with your data, and apply on their site for one-year, two-year, even three-year subscription service. Moreover, you have some extra savings with their offering of promo codes found on their website. It also varies depending on the kind of online back-up services you would have to choose. Nonetheless, they are not only feasible for personal matters but more so with businesses also.

Don’t worry though, because you can still backup your files easily thanks to free online backup solutions.Sites such as Dropbox and IDrive offer free storage space that you can use to safeguard your files. To make it even better, you can also use the online services not only for backing up necessary files but also for sharing those files with other people such as close friends and family members.Since the services are offered for free, there are indeed some limitations. The disk space offered, for example, is usually limited to 2 GB. You will still have enough space to store your photos or magazine collections, but you will have to upgrade to premium services if you need more space.Other necessary features such as added security measures and easy integration with Windows or MacOS as well as the ability to access your online storage and backup server from smartphones are also offered as part of the free solutions, allowing you to maximize the feature.

Yes, no matter how much the traditionalists don’t even want to talk about it, Apple iPad has been a massive hit. People it seems are ready to embrace tablet-like gadgets and spend humongous amounts of cash for that purpose. iPad was not being thought of as a huge success when it first came into light. Almost everyone thought that it was just a big iPhone without any special purpose at all. The Samsung Galaxy S is a tablet on the lines of iPad in many ways and it seems that people will be willing to get a tab for half the price of the iPad.

But here’s the catch, it looks JUST like a Samsung Galaxy S handset only blown up! But our guess is that the cost will definitely be lesser than the ever expensive iPad. Also it will be having a 3.5mm headset; TouchWiz UI running on top of Android, all the other smartphone elements will be there on the high-powered Galaxy S as well. But the screen will be gigantic and so it will be interesting to see Samsung slightly optimize the TouchWiz interface to fully utilize it. Yes, tablets are here to stay it seems.

According to a recent announcement by the company according to the company blog, Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is now being shipped to selected markets around the world. This Symbian S60 is one phone many have been awaiting for long now and it seems that now they can enjoy it after all. The very fact that Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is being shipped in large quantities is proof enough of the fact that it was much anticipated.

The features of Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro say it all, HD-recording, full QWERTY keyboard, other stuff that makes it identical to the original Sony Ericsson Vivaz like Symbian S60 but of course the 5th edition, 3.2-inch touchscreen, 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi, and GPS deliver on the equipment front. The most noticeable difference is the inclusion of an 8 mega pixel camera instead of a 5 mp one. It is a very convenient mobile too as far as connectivity is concerned. Another thing that you would like if you really are into music is the inclusion of 32GB micro SD memory cards.

So this is the is the amazing Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro. Not much can be said about the regional schedules but as the official Sony Ericsson blog puts it, it shouldn’t be long before you see Vivaz Pro in your local retailer/carrier shop.

Ok since we are on the subject of Android Froyo today; I have just come to know of some rumours according to which Froyo 2.2 has already been ported to the Nexus One and the HTC Droid Eris. Too hard to believe I know but it has been heard that Androidiani.com (an Italian website) has managed to get the files you need to port Froyo 2.2 onto your Nexus One and they have put them up on their website for downloading too!

But it has also been reported that once ported, it is quite unstable and susceptible to crash soon. There has been a lot of talk on the XDA-Developers forums on how Android Froyo 2.2 can work on other smartphones too. Well peoplee who are too anxious for the upgrade can now download the SDK to see how the Android Froyo 2.2 will work on their smartphone!

It is a bit sad that while owners of some smartphones like Nexus One are waiting for Android Froyo 2.2, some other smartphone owners are still waiting for the Android Éclair 2.1 e.g. HTC Hero. Sad indeed!

The new Android Froyo upgrade which is being impatiently awaited by many, will be available for Nexus One at least by the end of this year. Other phones like the HTC etc. will soon have the upgrade too. But other manufacturers might have to wait for a while since there is a specific size of ROM that the set should have in order to have the Android Froyo 2.2 upgrade!

Nokia has only recently come out with four new affordable handsets in its C-series. A dual SIM functionality on a Nokia handset is just not a Nokia thing, but these sets are equipped with that as it is mainly aimed at the developing countries. Nokia C1-00 will be shipped somewhere in the 3rd quarter of 2010, whereas the C2-00, will be coming out in the last quarter of 2010. These two are equipped with double SIM, whereas the other two devices, the Nokia C1-01 and C1-02, are single SIM handsets.

Both will start shipping somewhere in the last quarter of 2010. Price would be somewhere around 30 to 40 euro ($36 to $55 USD) before tax and subsidies. The handsets which support dual SIM cards will not have them active at the same time; it will be totally up to the user to decide which of these he wants to be active. On the other hand the Nokia C2-00 is equipped with a true dual SIM functionality with both SIM cards active. Other good things about the Nokia C2-00 are a microSD slot supporting up to 32GB cards and Ovi Life Tools, Nokia’s solution for agricultural and health information.

Nokia is a true innovator of sorts and nobody knows it better than them that a bike is the most important conveyance in the underdeveloped countries so they have come up with a very novel bicycle charging solution for emerging markets. Basically you just have to mount the charger onto the bike as the dynamo works to charge up the device. Nokia are basically just on the right track as bicycles are used a lot in the underdeveloped countries and this thing can really serve as a great incentive.

At last it’s here! So lets get cracking shall we?

As before any release of a device from HTC, or any other company for that matter, the rumours start to fly about several things. One specific thing with the HD2 was whether it was going to be a Windows Mobile handset, or a new Android handset. And now due to its retail release we can say it’s supporting Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional.

The device boasts a large screen, a whopping 4.3 inch touchscreen! Naturally there are drawbacks to this as several people have questioned the device asking “maybe it’s too big?”

This is quite possibly the biggest device of the year, and in more ways than one! And here are the specs of the HTC HD2 to prove it:

Physical Dimensions

Display

4.3 Inch Capacitive Touch screen

Operating System

Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional (with HTC sense)

Storage

ROM: 512 MB

RAM: 448 MB

Expansion Slot: Micro SD memory card (SD 2.0 compatible)

Network Bands

Connectors

- 3.5mm Stereo audio jack

- Standard Micro USB (5 Pin micro-USB 2.0)

In the box you get the handset (naturally), the battery, the Micro USB wall charger, the Micro USB – USB sync cable which also charges the device when it is linked to your laptop or PC. HTC also supply you with the headset for hands free calling, a leather effect carry case for the device, to keep it protected. Naturally HTC give you all the instruction manuals and the warranty info you need, and to top it all off a 2GB MicroSD card.

Despite the device being rather on the large side it is fairly comfortable to hold. Due to the device being rather thin it means you can wrap your fingers around it in order to operate it. But of course, that’s all dependant on the size of your hands. It does look rather stunning, sleek and thin, like you would expect a high rolling device too look. The huge screen is the first thing to grab your attention and the display quality is brilliant also, brining life to the device. With the device’s large and elegant looks come the internal workings of the device. The HTC HD2 is the first device from HTC to support the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. This fast clocking CPU helps the device to run very smoothly, minimising the wait times for you opening emails and browsing files, it makes for almost seamless operation. The UI this device runs flows smoothly and is clearly highly demanding of handheld processing power, but the new CPU makes light work of the streaming UI with minimal jumps and pauses.

A further point about this device is that the lens for the camera protrudes away from the device, sticking out by a couple of millimetres, maybe it is down to the overall thickness of the HD2 not being able to compensate for the size of the camera with all the internal workings? Or maybe even an ergonomics feature for when using the camera to make sure you don’t cover the lens? The overall quality of the camera on the HD2 is good, there have been reported bugs with the HD2 however, where taking a picture with the device would result in a kind of purple/pinkish hue, radiating from the middle of the screen. You can read here about some of the reported camera issues. From the picture to the right you can see how the camera lens sticks out from the rest of the body. It hasn’t been done in an ugly fashion; the lens is nicely framed with a thin strip of chrome on a gently raised up platform. Also in the picture you can see the 2 LED flashlight for the camera to the right of the lens and the Loudspeaker to the left.

The HD2 can be connected to your PC via the micro USB socket which also doubles as the phone charger. The usual problem with the micro USB socket is that it can be put in upside down, damaging the socket on the device and resulting in needing a repair. And apparently, it’s a rather easy mistake to make, so be careful! The picture here shows the bottom of the device, showing off the Micro USB socket as well as the buttons on the bottom of the device located under the screen. From left to right they are as follows; Call answer button, Home screen, Windows start menu, Back, and the call hang up and power button. Also in the bottom of the device to the left of the micro USB socket is the 3.5mm headphone jack. In the box with the device you get a HTC Headset to make use of the headphone jack.

As a phone the HD 2 works well, clicking the call button opens up the phone dialling pad on the screen which works the same as any other phone. Clicking the answer button again initiates the call after dialling in the number or selecting a contact. The SMS function on the phone is also easy to access, however there have been some reported issues of bugs with the SMS of this device. The problem being that texts are not received at their “destination” for a good few hours after sending. The battery power on the HTC HD2 means that you can make a good amount of calls without needing to charge the device. However, if I can refer you to my post I made at the end of November regarding the battery life on the HD2, some people are finding they need to charge the device rather often as the battery seems to be draining quickly, even under low usage. Coupled with the SMS, the HD2 also supports E-mail, like most other smartphones out there. The HD2 runs the standard WinMo client for emails that HTC favour and that we all know and love, simple enough to operate, and it works! So there is no disappointment there.

Of course being a HTC smartphone the HD2 supports a range of different social networking tool and different applications. These include Facebook (naturally) with Facebook photo integration. The photo integration also works with the Twitter application on the HD2. which works alongside HTC Peep which is also used for Tweeting. These kinds of applications make the HTC HD2 a good way to keep up to date with happenings on Facebook and twitter when your laptop is unavailable. The HD2 is also very customizable, you are able to choose what shortcuts for what applications you want to display on your homescreen, so all your friends on Facebook could just be a tap away! The home screen on the device displays; A clock, date, application shortcuts, alarm status and shortcut, any upcoming appointments, Weather including temperature and climate conditions. Right at the top is the standard WinMo start menu, followed by the network signal coverage, sound level indicator and the battery power.

In all it’s a good device, smooth looking and certain to grab people’s eye with how sleek it is. The sheer size of the HD2 will put some people off, as the device looks like more of a Net-tablet than a smartphone. But there are many HTC fans and maybe even some new customers that will be drawn to the device. The HD2 seems to be drumming up reviews everywhere, and none (that I have read) with a bad word said about it. There are of course the few odd bugs and glitches that people seem to be stumbling across, but it is rather rare for a device be it handheld, laptop or desk top, to work flawlessly on the first initial software release of the device. I’m sure that the HD2 will keep consumers happy, and provide the people who buy it with a good handheld digital companion. Just one thing that seems to be left to cover is the price of the handset. You can now buy the HTC HD2 in the UK for £499.99. A hefty price tag, but it really is a state of the art device and worth this kind of price tag. Naturally buying the phone on a monthly contract deal with any of the supporting networks, the prices will vary depending on what tariff you take with your mobile phone company.

The iPhone recently got unveiled in the Czech Republic, well, accidently of course. As usual they found it out somewhere lying around and then all hell broke loose. iPhone 4G has all of its essential features reviewed but one thing that was left was maybe the screen resolution which finally got covered with this find. Now iPhone 4G was examined under a microscope and it was found out that the screen resolution is around HVGA – 640×960, up from 320×480 and the same LCD IPS matrix has been used as the iPad’s.

Some photos have been taken and they have been widely circulated over the net too. Of course not many would be able to understand what a higher screen resolution means but well one can be rest assured that amongst all the GSM phones right now in the market, the screen of iPhone 4G is being said to have the highest resolution and rumours have it that it could be the most pixel-dense screen ever fitted on a smartphone.

The iPhone 4G would be expected to cater to the increased demand of the higher resolution output – especially in graphically intensive applications. So the rumor of the 1 GHz iPad SoC powering the iPhone 4G definitely sounds more credible now.
